Society of American Whip Artistry Adopts Dante Book as 'Official Text'

Dec. 5, 2008 - PRLog -- The Society of American Whip Artistry (SAWA) has adopted "Let's Get Cracking! The How-To Book of Bullwhip Skills" by Robert Dante as its “Official Instructional Text."

Dante is a professional bullwhip performer, a three-time Guinness World Record holder (“Most Bullwhip Cracks in One Minute – 254”), and founder of The Bullwhip Academy, which holds 6-week whip cracking sessions in Minneapolis. Dante also was named recipient of the 2008 Brian Chic Whip Artistry Award in July at the 45th annual Annie Oakley Days Festival in Greenville, Ohio.

SAWA was created several years ago by noted whip performer and instructor Gery Deer, founder of the Whip Artistry Studio in Jamestown, Ohio. After consulting with SAWA's Board of Directors, Deer informed Dante of the endorsement - but he didn't stop there.

"You also now have The Whip Artistry Studio stamp of approval," Deer wrote, "as it will be given to EVERY student who takes a weekend workshop from here on out.”  

“In my opinion, “Let’s Get Cracking” offers some of the best whip handling and performance advice I have ever seen put to paper,” Deer said. “Robert’s experience and common sense approach to whip artistry is explained clearly and uses references from other disciplines, including dance. My particular favorite is the 12 Principle approach to being more smooth and flowing with your whip.
