AWC South FL Chapter, Miami Dade CFW To Hold Holiday Fundraiser's for Women's Shelter
The Association for Women in Communications South Florida Chapter and the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women, will host a holiday fundraiser social to benefit The Lodge of Miami, a shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The fundraiser social will feature complimentary sangria and appetizers, a prize raffle, a silent auction, and cosmetics and skincare giveaways. All proceeds will go to The Lodge http://www.thelodgemiami.org, helping the organization continue to provide counseling and shelter to domestic and sexual violence victims in Miami-Dade County. “We’re excited to throw a party to support such a fantastic cause,” said Tonya Scholz, president of the AWC. “The Lodge fills a critical need in Miami-Dade for safe, confidential services for victims of domestic violence and rape. So the AWC, as the oldest professional organization dedicated to the advancement of women, applauds The Lodge’s invaluable work. We’re delighted to contribute towards its operations.”
“As we prepare our families for the holidays, it’s more important than ever to remember women and their families who need shelter from domestic and sexual abuse. That’s why the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women, an advisory board to the Miami-Dade County Commissioners, is partnering with the Association for Women in Communications to raise funds and awareness for The Lodge, a vital resource for those victims,” commented Carmen Elias-Levenson, chairperson of the CFW. “Together, and with participation from the Miami-Dade community, we can help a great organization continue to provide support and help to those who need it most.”
The Association for Women in Communications South Florida Chapter connects communicators in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties, facilitating its members integration into the business matrix of South Florida and promoting their personal and professional advancement. The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women was established in 1971 as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners, the County administration and the public at large about issues pertaining to the status of women. The Commission for Women also serves as an advocate for the women in the community and strives to improve their quality of life.
