Caribbean Adventure Series Launched by Kittitian Author

Nov. 22, 2008 - PRLog -- BASSETERRE, ST.KITTS – Kids of all ages will enjoy a delightful and fun-packed new adventure series from first-time author Carol Ottley-Mitchell of St. Kitts/Nevis, which will be launched on November 26th.

Adventure at Brimstone Hill is the first installment of the Caribbean Adventure Series created by Ottley-Mitchell for young readers allowed the author to combine her love for the Caribbean with a passion for helping young minds learn about their history and culture.
"Reading is a key part of our children’s development and this is why I have created the Caribbean Adventure Series.

“The books are about three West Indian children who have adventures in the past that lead them to discover their history. The first, Adventure at Brimstone Hill is set at the Brimstone Hill National Fortress Park in St. Kitts where they wander down a tunnel in search of a pet monkey and find themselves in the past and in the middle of a historical battle at sea between the British and the French,” she explained.

Carol, who presently resides on St. Kitts, is a wife, mother of two and the owner and main software developer for Leyton’s Microcomputer Systems. She confesses that becoming a mother really gave her the courage to write as she realized there was so much about her island’s history and culture that was disappearing.

“My kids love to read and I thought this would be a great way of broadening their imaginations as well as share some of my favorite experiences of living on St. Kitts and in other parts of the Caribbean. Future books will send Mark, his monkey Chee Chee and his friends around the islands.”
