Nov. 21, 2008 - PRLog -- The Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) of the Southern Ocean Chamber of Commerce and several branches of the Ocean County library are working together to cross promote events, services and get the word out the dynamic offerings that residents have access to right in their own neighborhood.  By coordinating library displays and programs with DMO initiatives such as Chocolate Week in February, Wedding Road Show in April, Lighthouse Film Festival and Restaurant Week in June “We are ensuring that the community is aware of all the wonderful events and promotions that we market to visitors outside our area. There is no organization better suited to help channel information then Ocean County Library System” says Lori Pepenella, Destination Marketing Director. “We can help get all the library offers to visitors such as the temporary library card for $5 per month and the variety of business and online services.”

The Ocean County Library System and Tourism are well served by Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari as liaison to both groups. Freeholder Vicari supports the positive effects this will have on the resident, business and tourist base. "In these difficult economic times, we have to think outside the box. This creative and innovative partnership between the Long Beach Island DMO/Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and the southern branches of the Ocean County Library system certainly meets that standard," stated Vicari

Linda Feaster of the Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library was contacted by Pepenella to discuss how the Chamber and the local libraries can come together to help local business and increase communication on all levels. Feaster points out “that our community will benefit greatly from having our organizations – the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and the southern branches of the Ocean County Library – working together.  Our services complement each other.”
