Recent Christian Mission Trip to Haiti by World Harvest Missions Outreach Found Tragedy Still

“It was very hard to hand out food from the containers and at the end of 1000 families the food was gone, but we had to look at the other 4000 families there and tell them there was no more food for them or their starving children.”

Nov. 13, 2008 - PRLog -- World Harvest Missions Outreach recent Christian mission trip to Haiti led by Miriam Frederick found the devastation in Haiti is still terrible months after the back to back hurricanes.

“The houses in Cabaret are sitting in water and people are homeless everywhere said director” Miriam Frederick. “There are more people out at night than during the day because they are homeless and have nowhere to sleep.”

“We made a stop at an orphanage in Cabaret and gave them food:  rice, beans, vita-meal, greens plus and some medication.  The children are all sick and have no toys.  They put 2 children to a twin bed with no linens to sleep and it was so hot without hardly any ventilation in the dreary rooms.  We will be coming back to help them” commented Miriam Frederick who also organized and directs New Life Childrens Home a Haiti Orphanage that rescues homeless children in need.

In Gonaives the conditions are just as bad.  The people are walking around like robots shoveling mud into wheel burrows and dumping the mud in mounds out in the street.  “We had to weave around the mountains of mud and hoped we didn’t have to back up or turn around” reported one of the drivers on the recent Christian mission trip to Haiti.

“We were told that over 800 hundred people were reported dead in Gonaives alone and many are still missing.  People are shoveling into dead bodies as they are clearing the packed mud from in and around their homes.  The mud is over knee deep and packed down.”  Claimed one of the rescue missionaries.  “I can’t believe the total devastation this long after the storms.”

Miriam Frederick will return shortly with more food and medical supplies that she gathers in the West Palm Beach area where World Harvest Missions Outreach has been based for over 30 years bringing God’s Love and relief to the remote villages of Haiti.

Miriam Frederick remarked that if people would take one night a month off from eating out in a restaurant and donate that money, many children in Haiti could eat for a month on what would have just fed one person a meal in a restaurant here in America.

The only water these people have to drink is the diseased flood water, they don’t even know to boil it first.  This is where a lot of the disease is coming from.

“Probably the saddest thing I saw was when the rice was handed out and a few grains fell into the dirt, the children scrambled to grab any little pieces they could find and quickly shoved them in their mouth” remarked Miriam Frederick with a distant look on her face.

“It was very hard to hand out food from the containers and at the end of 1000 families the food was gone, but we had to look at the other 4000 families there and tell them there was no more food for them or their starving children.”

“We must return as soon as possible with more supplies” were Miriam Frederick's words as she walked down the line of people, seeing the despair on their faces, trying to comfort and encourage them to hang on untill help arrives.
