Nov. 5, 2008 - PRLog -- Matt Lubetich, Chief Operating Officer of Bigfoot Entertainment, was a noted speaker at the first ever Asia-Pacific Film Policy Forum, which occurred in simultaneity with the Busan International Film Commission, the Busan International Film Festival and the Busan Industry Showcase (BIFCOM) in South Korea.  At the conclusion of the well-attended two-day event, formal declarations were made to 1) pursue means of shifting Hollywood production to Asia, and 2) collectively promote the film and media industries within the region.

Matt was invited to speak at the event once the Director of the Busan Film Commission, Park Kwang-Su and his associate, Kevin Kang, visited the facilities at Bigfoot Entertainment in Cebu.  Of their decision to include Bigfoot into the prestigious lineup, Matt remarked that Park and Kang “saw the long and short term potential of our facility and team, and wanted for me to share it with the other filmmakers in the region. Naturally, it feels good to be recognized for what you create.  But beyond that, I wanted to get the point across that Bigfoot is so much bigger than a particular film or slate of films.”

Matt spoke extensively about Bigfoot’s ten-year plan, its horizontally integrated structure, and the parallels that its own business plan and organization has with the Hengdian World Studios, which presently owns the world’s largest film shooting site and joint partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures.  Like Hengdian, Bigfoot employs a multi-platform strategy: film development, production and distribution (Bigfoot Productions), complete studio facilities (Bigfoot Studios), a professional film school (International Academy of Film and Television), and a television franchise (Fashion TV).  Pleased with the overall outcome of the gathering, Matt added that he “was excited to be part of this prestigious event and share the stage with Hengdian.  And as global filmmakers and service providers, it was an honor to be recognized and invited to this first-of-its-kind event.”

The attendee list was a global who’s who within the film business. Notable key players included Michael Lake, president of WWE Entertainment, and Warner Bros location executive Bill Bowling. La Peikang, deputy director of China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), and Nguyen The Thanh from Ho Chi Minh City's Service of Culture and Information attended as well.  The large group of decision makers was in agreement that various production incentives are necessary to lure U.S. and European productions to film in Asia.
