Follow on Google News | Miss Rose & Her Rhythm Percolators Debut CD: Who Walks InSeattle-based Prohibition-era jazz band released their long-awaited debut CD this month.
By: Sunga Rose Percolators, is now available. This music will take listeners back in time to the earliest days of the Jazz Age. In addition to the regular members of the quartet, the recording includes two guest artists who will be very familiar to Seattle audiences: Craig Flory can be heard on two tracks playing alto and baritone saxophone and well-known swing violinist Paul Anastasio graces two more tracks, including the title song. The quartet faithfully recreates the vintage jazz of the early 1920s to the mid '30s -- the era when this original American music provided a playful soundtrack for the flappers who danced the Charleston and sipped illicit booze in the glitzy underworld of the speakeasy. This recording includes well-known popular tunes that have since become part of the great American songbook as well as forgotten gems from the early jazz era. Audiences of all ages are delighted by the unabashed romance, playful humor and irresistible swing rhythms of this music. Singer Sunga Rose croons and strums a ukulele while the Percolators -- Dayton Allemann (piano), Mark Bentz (cornet/percussion) knock out solos. Miss Rose & Her Rhythm Percolators revive for modern times a wonderful sound from a bygone era.
