Follow on Google News | Greece Is The Word As Keytools Celebrates Record OrderThe expanding firm in Southampton has won a historical order which worth £250,000 to supply specialist computer equipment to Greece. More than 2,000 large key keyboards for have just been dispatched from a warehouse in Eastleigh.

More than 2,000 large key keyboards, which make using a computer easier for the visually impaired and disabled, have just been dispatched by lorry from a warehouse in Eastleigh. Sales manager Phil Guest said: “This is a record deal for us, worth a quarter of a million pounds, and we’re all thrilled to bits. “Business is booming for us, despite all the bad news about the UK economy. “The order is the largest in our 20-year history and means we can continue to expand staff numbers.” Keytools provides nearly 1,000 different products to help people overcome difficulties in using computers, including sufferers of repetitive strain injury (RSI). The Greek order is for BigKeys, a large key keyboard - http://www.keytools.co.uk/ Phil said: “BigKeys is the UK's best-selling large key keyboard - it helps pupils see and hit the key they want - and the product caught the eye of the Ministry of Education in Greece.” Keytools’ clients across Europe, Australia and New Zealand include schools, local authorities, charities and businesses. Locally they include Hampshire County Council and the University of Southampton. The company employs 25 people, having just hired four extra staff, and is looking to recruit more as orders roll in. Its products - ranging from contoured mice that eliminate wrist or hand strain to specialist keyboards - help make IT easier and more comfortable for office workers, disabled people and children. Keytools, which is headquartered at Abacus House, Spring Crescent, Portswood, also advises colleges and universities on assistive technology, ergonomics and health and safety for computer users. Five months ago (April) the company held the first workshop of its kind in the region in connection with how office workers suffering RSI can use assistive technology to alleviate pain.
