Ideal Standard International joins European Healthy Workplaces Campaign as a founding partner

Company reinforces commitment to risk assessment for safety at work

Oct. 16, 2008 - PRLog -- BRUSSELS, BELGIUM - Ideal Standard International, a leading provider of innovative and design-driven bathroom solutions, today announced its commitment to a pioneering European campaign for a safe and healthy workplace along with eight pan-European a

Pan-European pioneers

A total of nine pan-European and multinational organizations have signed up to be part of the first wave of official partners for the Healthy Workplaces campaign. Among them are European employers’ and workers’ federations, multinational companies from various industry sectors, research platforms and Non Governmental Organisations.
“We are very proud that so many renowned organisations decided to help us raise awareness on this important topic”, Jukka Takala, Director of EU-OSHA said. “Risk assessment is key to preventing accidents and ill health at work. It is a legal obligation throughout Europe and hundred of thousands of companies all over Europe assess their risks regularly. Partnerships with these nine organisations allow us to further increase the impact of our Healthy Workplaces campaign, already now one of the world’s largest information campaigns on occupational safety and health. And this is only the start since we are in touch with many more organisations that will join soon.”

About the campaign
The European Healthy Workplaces campaign on Risk Assessment runs over two years (2008/2009) and is backed by the EU Presidencies, the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European social partners. With the help of its network of national focal points in the 27 EU member states and accession countries, EU-OSHA organises hundreds of events and activities throughout the campaign.

Ideal Standard International’s continued focus on safety at work

As an official partner, Ideal Standard International will be heavily involved in the EU-wide campaign. Through its own information channels, campaign materials will be made available to all its employees worldwide, as well as throughout its supply chain. In addition, activities will be organized in various countries to promote risk assessment as the first essential step for good workplace safety and health management.  The company’s safety campaign launched in June 2007, “Be Safe. There’s only one you” continues to reinforce the on-going commitment to a safe working environment.

CEO of Ideal Standard International, John Rietveldt said, “Safety starts with each and every one of us,” “Effective risk assessment is a must in order for us to prevent accidents and illnesses at work. Our commitment to the European Healthy Workplaces campaign is a natural extension of our company’s core value to Care for our Wellbeing.”
