a competition in which drivers from more than 20 nations compete during adrenaline-fueled weekends, set in sensational locations across the world. A1GP is also a medium for national & international brands and offers a unique opportunity for exposure on a global scale. Antonio has been with A1GP since its inception in 2003 and is depended on to oversee all of the company’s operations. This includes marketing, event scheduling, staffing, finance and strategic development. Antonio has more than twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur and financier. He was born in Portugal and immigrated to South Africa, later studying in Nigel and assisting in his father’s moving business. In 2003, Antonio was selected by Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum to head the A1 Grand Prix series. Under his expert direction, the A1GP has experienced significant growth in both recognition and revenue. Antonio has accumulated an outstanding list of similar accomplishments throughout his career. He is the owner and CEO of the oil, diamond and gold trade company, Energem and has been involved in trading, logistics, transport and diamond exploration activities throughout Africa for over 25 years. Antonio maintains an equally active philanthropic agenda and supports Nelson Mandela Charities as well as dozens of other organizations that benefit a variety of causes. At home in London, Antonio enjoys traveling, playing golf and looking for his next venture.
