Truffle Hunting and Truffle Market Tour for Nero Norcia Truffle Fair 2009, Italy

Oct. 13, 2008 - PRLog -- Spoleto, Italy –Love Umbria, Italian gourmet tour specialists, announces the launch of a Truffle Tour to coincide with the 46th edition of the “Nero Norcia” Black Truffle Fair which will take place in Norcia, Italy in February 2009.

The “Nero Norcia” Black Truffle Fair, also known as Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Nero Pregiato di Norcia e dei Prodotti Tipici is one of Italy’s most important black truffle markets. As well as stands selling black truffles and other culinary specialties of central Italy there will also be gastronomic events and demonstrations organized around the fair including guided tastings of typical products such as wines, salamis and cheeses.

On Love Umbria’s 5-day Truffle Tour, participants will not only get to sample the precious black truffles, Tuber melanosporum (also known as the “Norcia”, “Spoleto” or “Périgord” truffle), but will also get the chance to join a professional truffle hunter and his dogs on their daily truffle hunt in the beautiful Valnerina area of Umbria and will learn to prepare truffle dishes at a cooking lesson with a professional chef. The tour will also visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Assisi, home of Saint Francis, and take a trip to the vineyards and wineries of the Umbrian hilltop town of Montefalco to sample Sagrantino di Montefalco wine, one of Italy’s most important wines.

Flights: Ryanair flies direct from London Stansted to Perugia airport in Umbria. Rome, Florence, Ancona and Pisa airports are within two hours of Umbria.
