Follow on Google News | Calling All SCRABBLE PlayersSCRABBLE for Literacy Challenge to benefit Literacy Volunteers of Illinois. Games, prizes, and silent auction on Sunday, October 26th in the Old Town area in Chicago, IL.
By: Dorothy Miaso The October 26th event offers two ways to play: Competitive and Just for Fun. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place for the competitive play, with National SCRABBLE Association rules being followed. Prizes will also be offered in a variety of other categories for both types of play. Other highlights include: Beat The Champs ! – an opportunity to test your mettle against World SCRABBLE Champ contenders; Word Play – a chance to find as many words as you can in a group of alphagrammed letters; special activities for kids; and, a Silent Auction. Proceeds will benefit adult literacy programs in Illinois as well as the Jump Start program which serves incarcerated youth.
