Oct. 5, 2008 - PRLog -- SND is approaching an historic one-half million dollar mark in their fundraising efforts since their inception in 2001.  SND is dedicated to continuing to help Dobermans with extraordinary medical expenses and will have helped almost 700 Dobermans by the end of 2008.  But in these unsteady economic times, donations for the group are down this year (as they are for many non-profit groups) and there are many dogs waiting in the wings to be helped.  Despite the excitement over their landmark fundraising efforts over the past 7 years, SND is working harder than ever to insure each Doberman, whether the dog is in a formal rescue group, a foster home or owned by a loving family, is helped.

SND’s President, Steve Martin, is hoping that the excitement at this year’s National Specialty Show which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the loyal and Always Faithful Doberman, will help increase donations and shed more light on what SND does.  Martin stated, “Many of these Dobermans, if not helped financially by SND, would have ended up in shelters or possibly euthanized because their families or rescue organizations could not afford to pay for their medical expenses.  Even something simple like a broken limb, or an intestinal blockage could end up costing thousands of dollars – emergencies beyond the means of most families.”

SND is an unsalaried all-volunteer organization that is committed to continuing to help Dobermans in need – but they are struggling to be able to help as many, and give as much as they did in the past.   Uniting together with rescue groups and members of the Doberman community, SND also helps Doberman owners by providing an online Yahoo Groups forum, the SND Café, in which helpful breed information, Dobermans available for adoption, and health and education is shared.
