Sept. 29, 2008 - PRLog -- Vasilios "Billy" Blioumis, directing mentor at the International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT), attended the 2nd annual Sarajevo Talent Campus, a relatively new undertaking of the annual Sarajevo Film Festival, in its 14th year, which enables collaboration among selected filmmakers from throughout Southeast Europe.

Blioumis’s favorable nod gained him entrance into the festival and the talent campus, where he mingled with well-known members of the entertainment industry, including Kevin Spacey and Charlie Kaufman, as well as aspiring filmmakers. Blioumis was enthusiastic about his 2008 involvement, as he is one of only 28 directors chosen from an applicant list of 250 cinematic professionals representing the thirteen countries in the region.

Aside from mingling with major regional talent and participating in numerous workshops and panels, Blioumis’s main objective was to spread the word about The Treasure of Lapu-Lapu, his in-progress mockumentary with portions currently airing on You Tube. Blioumis’s comedic concept is to convince the locals of Lapu-Lapu that there is a treasure hidden on the island, a story loosely based upon the legend of Magellan leaving behind a vast fortune. An innovative, international component of the project involves filmmakers in different parts of the world shooting commentary regarding the widespread intrigue of this undiscovered treasure. Blioumis hopes that audiences will not only enjoy a good laugh, but will grasp his universal theme: "At the end of the day, we are all equal"

The Sarajevo Film Festival took place from August 17th - 23rd, the Talent Campus being a progressive mark for the festival after its launch in 2007 as an educational resource for up-and-coming filmmakers and production students looking to get their foot in the door of the entertainment industry. Blioumis sums up his passion for his profession: "I forget my ego when it’s about filmmaking"
