Sept. 26, 2008 - PRLog -- Melbourne Beach, Florida, USA – Two experienced Internet-based business owners, Michael S. DeVries and Sonya M. Seybold, owners of The Virtual Consulting Firm (http://www.TheVCF.com) have announced the grand opening of I-ShopTheWorld.com, an online shopping experience designed to bring unique native products from around the world as close as the shoppers’ keyboard.

“We believe we are providing a valuable service especially for those who want to go “green” and preserve gas and other natural resources by providing this sort of at-home entertainment adventure where you can buy unique native products from around the world, or just learn more about other cultures and places,” DeVries said. “Already we have frequent visitors to our site and regular posters to its blog.”

The I-ShopTheWorld.com online product catalog features unique handmade items, as well as items specific to cultures and regions, such as artwork, food and spices, clothing, and jewelry. The online catalog displays pictures of the products in full color, along with a description and pricing.

Offerings are categorized by art and artwork, clothing, cosmetics, crafts, food and drinks, flowers, furniture, gemstones, handcrafted items, jewelry, precious metals, toys, wood, and world origin to make it easy for customers to find what they are shopping for.

The Web-based business offers currently products from The United States, Thailand, and the Cayman Islands. Customer orders are shipped directly from the suppliers to the customer to facilitate speed, efficiency, and savings, as well as to increase customer satisfaction by delivering while the excitement of the purchase is still fresh.

“We are working daily to add products and countries,” DeVries said. “This virtual market concept has just taken off beyond our expectations. People want unique gifts quickly, they come to us. They just don’t feel like going to the mall, they come to us. We knew when we first got the inspiration that it was a good idea, and our customers have validated that for us in only a couple of months.”

DeVries said he and Seybold were vacationing in the Dominican Republic in April, shopping and admiring the local handicrafts. Native artisans commented that the tourism industry had slowed down and they needed a way to expand the market for their wares.

“We came up with the idea almost simultaneously that the Web could bring the products of the world and world shoppers together,” Seybold said. “We are always looking for intriguing ways to use our Web knowledge, and I just love to talk to people about what they do and what they dream. We arranged our first venders right then in the midst of our vacation, came home, set up the Web site, and started searching for new products that fit our concept.”

The partners have since taken a business trip to the Cayman Islands where they arranged to offer the products of the Tortuga Rum company, the Cayman Taffy company and additional handcrafted native Cayman’s products. Those products include the Tortuga Rum company’s world famous rum cakes, spices, gourmet cooking sauces, soups, and gourmet coffee.

The I-ShopTheWorld.com blog introduces new products, recognizes holidays from around the world, provides information on topics like birthstones, travel destinations, how to take care of the products sold through the Web site, even recipes on how to use the food-related products. Recent articles include how to take care of Thai silk, Burma as a travel destination, and a salute to Hispanic Heritage Month.

Visitors to site are invited to join the World Shopper’s Club, which entitles them to special discounts and advance product notifications.

The company has identified job opportunities for product managers, sales personnel, store and trade managers, and writers, among other specialties designed to get products from providers to customers. “We will work with fundraisers, charities, and suppliers from around the world.” Seybold said. “Our relationships are straight-forward; we are not looking for people to invest in our business; just ambitious people who want to grow along with us.”

What next? “Tell me what you want or what you have to offer,” DeVries said. “We’ll talk business. Like our name says I-ShopTheWorld.”
