Group MD of Mancheser based Tangerine, Sandy Lindsay, explains: “I sat down with the full team earlier this year, when the market tightened and offered them two options: consolidation and caution or continued confidence and growth, and the response, without hesitation, was the latter.  So we decided there and then to press ahead with our plans to refresh our Tangerine Public Relations’ branding and completely revisit our marketing and digital marketing presence at http://www.tangerinepr.com.

“We appointed Crab Creative as we wanted something entirely different to anything else in the marketplace.  We felt if we were going to do it, we should do it properly and we had heard superb things about Crab’s outstanding creativity.  Our brief to them was to simply refresh the Tangerine Group  branding but as far as the website was concerned we asked for something unique – something no-one had ever seen before and the team at Crab has definitely delivered.”

On appointment, Crab conducted research to get a feel for what made Tangerine PR different; “We spoke to every member of staff, individually and in workshops and also interviewed Tangerine PR clients and contacts,” explained Costa Michalia, creative director, Crab Creative. “And there were two things that came across very clearly – Tangerine PR was described by clients and staff alike as being ‘..a breath of fresh air’ to work with.  

“Secondly we were impressed with the quality of consultant we met at Tangerine PR and quickly realised that Tangerine is as good as it is because it has great people who fully believe in the business vision.”

From this research Crab gave Tangerine the strapline: ‘…a breath of fresh air’ and created a website that is truly unique; “I must admit, I was a little dubious about having a ‘strapline’ at all as I see these mainly in the domain of above the line agencies and clients,” explained Sandy Lindsay. “But I can’t think of a nicer compliment than this so we have completely bought into it, not just as a line but also as a way of operating.  

“And, while we actually briefed Crab to give us a unique website, I am staggered that they’ve actually managed to do it!  It not only stands out within the agency world, but across the board and it totally represents what we’re about – our people.”

Tangerine PR has also invested in three new people in the last two months (two executives and a manager) to continue to grow its Manchester based public relations team.
