Sept. 24, 2008 - PRLog -- Rocland Estates, established in 1999.  A small family owned wine company started as a storage facility catering for Yalumba Wines which now caters for 1 tonne to 35 tonne batches using static and open fermenters. Rocland Estates is a full contract winery that has made wines for many of the popular Australian brands in the US market such Rocland Estate has made wine for numerous premium companies which have received high standing of quality and accolades , such as the following : Hazyblur: Two Hands wines:  Kilikanoon wines: Gibson Barossavale: Schild Estate: Barossa Valley Estates: First Drop Wines: Chateau Tanunda: Grant Berge Wines: Torzi Mathews: Tin Shed Wines : Ben Radford: Rolf Binder wines: Teusner Wines: Neil Hanne : Fox Gordon : St Johns Rd: Layer Cake and Bird in Hand wines.

Peter Gajewski heads up the winemaking team, having 30 years of experience at Penfolds and Paringa wineries.  He has worked with Max Schubert, John Duval, and many of the wine industry greats during his career.  Peter has also made wine which has gone into the iconic Grange.

After creating wines that have achieved success in the domestic Australian and export markets for others, the winery has released a limited amount of the Rocland Estate Lot 147 Shiraz. Producing only 1000 6 pack cases of the wine with a retail price of $28 the wine is elegant and rich.  The wine is made from a majority of grapes that were grown on the estate located at Lot 147 Sturt Highway, Nuriootpa.

In addition to the 2006 Lot 147 Shiraz, the winery also introduced three new 2006 labels under the Kilroy Was Here! brand that retails for $20. The Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sparkling Shiraz, are 100% Barossa Valley wines. These wines are strong and focused with immense over delivering qualities for the price. Known to be the inspection mark of JJ Kilroy made on riveted steel plate in Massachusetts, USA shipyards of the 1940’s, his "Kilroy was here" became known by many of that time, including thousands of US Armed Forces personnel transported by sea during WW2 who upon seeing it adapted this slogan, placing their own "Kilroy"graffiti across UK and Europe as a symbol of their passing. From humble origins, "Kilroy was here" has appeared in many unusual places, even written in moon dust and everywhere in between. When seen, it has created wonderment and interest in both young and old as to "how", "why" and "by whom", and so over time has become the stuff of legend.

This year the winery will launch the Chocolate Box Brand which is made up of a 2008 Eden Valley Sauvignon Blanc (White Chocolate) and a 2007 Barossa Valley Shiraz (Dark Chocolate) and these wines will be priced at $16-$18 retail. The brand is designed to give a “Remember when” and comfort feeling that chocolate gives us all.

Each of the brands touch on price point segments that are in line with a growing trend in the US market for Australia in which appellations and hand crafted small lot wines are excelling.

Packaging on the brands are unique to the price points offering elegance for the Lot 147 and marketing driven intrigue/comfort designs for the Kilroy Was Here! and Chocolate Box brands.

The company has a strong focus on contract winemaking and is committed to growing premium wine production for the Rocland Estate family of wines. Most of our production team have come to from well known, long established companies and they are now growing the sales division within the US market.
