Top Franchisees Awarded at Wingstop’s 2008 National Convention
Brand partners and vendors honored for excellence with Golden Goose awards

Charles Loflin of San Antonio, Texas was awarded the fourth-annual Golden Goose for Lifetime Achievement. Loflin opened the first Wingstop outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area ten years ago and now owns 25 locations with another four under development. His locations consistently score high on all quality and service measurements and are some of the highest producing units in the chain. In the words of Jim Flynn, Wingstop CEO, “He is an incredible ambassador for the brand.”
Wingstop’s Multi-Unit Operator of the Year award was given to Raul Torres who has five Wingstop restaurants in west Texas. Michael Duplantis received the mystery shopper award and coveted trip to Hawaii. Danny Sonenshine and Iraj Agahi came in second and third place, respectively.
“Michael and Raul’s restaurants are operated with precision and unbeatable customer service,” said Flynn. “Their Wingstops are consistently among the top in sales and customer satisfaction. They are very deserving of this recognition.”
Jennifer Graham of Oklahoma City, Okla. was named Single Unit Operators of the Year. Best Overall Sales went to Emon and Ladonna Toliver of Oakland, Calif.; second and third went to Charles Loflin and Nick Nardello, respectively. Nydia Martinez of Hollywood, Fla. ranked Highest Percentage Sales Increase. Second and third went to Charles Gutierrez and Stephen Stewart, respectively. Charles Gutierrez also walked away with Highest Dollar Sales Increase; Douglas Sloan and Gary Shultz came in second and third, respectively. Tye Olsen, of Colorado Springs, Colo. was named Local Store Marketer of the Year.
Wingstop also named Coca Cola Vendor of the Year and the Houston Wingslingers received Advertising Co-op of the Year.
“We’re proud of all our brand partners and were very excited to announce 27 Million Dollar Club Members this year,” said Flynn. “Our celebration dinner also recognized 25 Top Gun award winners. These brand partners had to have a 96 average for the year in their mystery shop scores and a 96 average in their Quality, Service, Cleanliness evaluations done by Wingstop franchise business consultants. This is a tough feat!”
Wingstop offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. The chain now serves boneless wing strips that are made from 100 percent all-white meat chicken breast coated with a proprietary batter and breading. Wingstop features nine wing flavors, including Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, and Hickory Smoked BBQ. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming hot. Customers can also choose from homemade side dishes including fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, potato salad, creamy cole slaw, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.
