Sept. 12, 2008 - PRLog -- Hip Hop is Alive and Well in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – June, 2008 – With the recent signings of Washington, D.C. artists such as Wale to Interscope Records and Marky to Studio 43, the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area has been buzzing with the recognition and success of local rap artists. Next on that list is X.O. (Unknown Origin), a twenty-three year old who has been involved in the DC hip-hop scene and worked with prominent artists such as Wale, Odissee and Tabi Bonney. With the release of his third mixtape “The Takeover 2,” to be released on June, 1, 2008, X.O. has been cementing his place in the D.M.V. hip-hop and is soon to be the District's next break-out artist.

X.O. has been gaining popularity in the D.C. area as an artist with numerous performances at venues such as the Bohemian Caverns, Bar Nun (now known as Pure) and The Velvet Lounge, all nightclubs which are located in the U St. Corridor of N.W. Washington, D.C. He has also had interviews in the “Washington Post Express” Newspaper, “Sexy DC Magazine”, “Scheme Magazine” as well as in online publications, such as “RealMangoJuice.Com”.

Reviews of X.O.’s live performances and preview copies of his brand new mixtape have included a vast array of Washington, D.C. press. These include:

•   “Washington Post Express”: The rhyme-slinger is determined to expose all dimensions of himself as a rapper — and as a person.

•   “Washington City Paper”: A self described ’De La Wu/Tupac Pun,’ [X.O.’s] a witty, innovative lyricist who puts the D.C. street life in a unique perspective that has rarely been captured in hip-hop prose. … This is the work of a rising star putting his street experiences into a transformative experience.

•   “MetalLungies.com”: X.O.’s mixtape, The Takeover: Part 2, comes hot off the release of Wale’s The Mixtape About Nothing and demonstrates that D.C.’s rap scene isn’t a one trick pony. The mixtape features local producers and X.O. has a solid flow. X.O. is a competent rapper and the tape has some interesting tracks.

•   “DCTOBC.com”: It’s 20 songs of fire with production by local cats and honestly, I love pretty much every song. I enjoy seeing progress and improvement, but X.O. has surpassed that. The man is spitting fire that has major label execs on his tail.
•   “Gas-D.com”: Ask anybody who the top emcee’s in the D.M.V. are, and ten out of ten this dude is included in that list. X.O. is straight East Coast hip-hop with some DC flavor.

Released on June, 1, 2008, “The Takeover 2” will be available for download at http://www.xoupt.blogspot.com.
