British Open Hairdressing Championships at The Ricoh in Coventry

Sept. 9, 2008 - PRLog -- It will be scissors, combs and hairdryers at the ready when the country’s top hairdressing competition is held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The National Hairdressers Federation (NHF) is holding the British Open Hairdressing Championships in the E.ON Lounge at the £113 million venue on Sunday, September 28.

Juniors, trainees and experienced stylists are invited to attend the annual championships which have been running for more than 30 years.

Stephanie Munno from the NHF said it was the first time the championships had been held in Coventry and she urged hairdressers from the Midlands to enter the popular competition.

“The British Open Championships is an unrivalled event with over 20 categories for people to enter,” she said.

“The various categories give hairdressers of any age and experience the opportunity to show their artistic skills in cutting, colouring and styling.

“Juniors will be cutting hair on mannequins and seniors will be using models and for those interested in developing their creative skills, it is a must event to enter.

“The NHF Artistic Team will be there throughout the day to give hairdressers inspiration and ideas as well as highlight the current trends, and artistic director Wendy Cummins will answer questions if anyone interested in joining the team.

“We have published a new event brochure which gives guidance on how the styles for each category should look as well as providing all the information that competitors and spectators will need.

“We are expecting a record number of entries and if there are any hairdressers who still want to enter then they have until September 19 to get in touch.

“This is the first time we have held the championships at the Ricoh Arena and with all the space that we need for preparation rooms, the contest and the hotel accommodation, we hope it will become our permanent home.”

Dominic Fleming, head of sales at the Ricoh Arena, said spectators were welcome to watch the competition and offer support to those taking part.

“I am sure the atmosphere will build as the day progresses before the British Fashion Hairdresser of the Year is announced,” he said.

“This event highlights the versatility of the E.ON Lounge because it is suitable for hosting a wide array of functions and our central location is a big plus for people travelling from all over the UK.”
