Sept. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- United States— There are 560,000 teenage pregnancies in the US every year. This is the alarming fact that the proponents of PregnancyConcerns.info wants to address.

The website was launched last April 2008 with the primary goal of helping parents and teenagers face the realities of pregnancy.

Cynthia Heedlock who leads the group behind the pregnancy site explains, “ We want to present the statistics on teenage pregnancy as plain as possible to help parents and their daughters realize the truths about it.”

According to studies 95% of teenage pregnancies in the United States are unwanted and a third of these cases end up in abortion and another third in spontaneous miscarriage. Only a third of the young women were able to continue with their terms and deliver the baby.

“ Websites like this are very helpful to parents like me who is trying to raise a daughter. Mine is already fifteen but there are teenagers who get pregnant before they reach 17,” explains Cythia Perez from Alameda, California.

PregnacyConcerns.info also tackles the dangers of abortions and teaches pregnant teenagers other options which they have.  It emphasizes the guilt that abortion brings as an absolute act which can no longer be retracted the rest of their lives. Furthermore, it also outlines the risks involved in teenage abortions.

“The website is like an online psychologist to help young females deal with a very delicate and difficult situation in their lives. Babies are gifts and these teeners should realize that and be good mothers if they can,” Heedlock points out.

The website features the different stages of pregnancy which teenagers may face. The articles also discusses about pre-eclampsia, depression, stretch marks, and traveling while pregnant.

“The topics are very nice to know but more importantly the website reminds us about the value of life. It indirectly says that we must know when to say no so we will be in the right path.  If we get pregnant it suggests ways on how to better handle a situation which often than not we are not prepared to face, “Kelly Stanford, a 16 year old from Houston Texas, explains.

“I hope efforts like this will be appreciated. We also encourage other concerned parents and organizations to launch such moves. The more people pushing for this, the more chances of being successful in educating our youth about their responsibilities, "suggests Heedllock.

“We encourage teenagers to subscribe to our site and receive feeds about teenage pregnancy,” she adds.
