Aug. 29, 2008 - PRLog -- The National Black Pre-Law Conference and Law Fair, the nation’s premier information-sharing and networking empowerment event for aspiring Black lawyers, welcomes attorney Rodney G. Moore as one of its featured keynote speakers.  The purpose of this national conference is not only to provide insightful and powerful panel discussions about what it takes to succeed in the journey to becoming a lawyer and the opportunity to meet with law school representatives from all over the country, but also to present positive and successful African American lawyers to inspire and motivate the future African American attorneys in attendance.

Rodney G. Moore serves as the 66th president of the National Bar Association, the country’s oldest and largest national organization of predominately African American lawyers and judges.  A San Jose, California native, Mr. Moore became the first Georgia lawyer to serve as president in the 82-year history of the association.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Washington and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Santa Clara University School of Law.

In 1989, Rodney opened the Moore Law Firm, APC in Downtown San Jose. He operated a very successful law practice where he handled major cases, one of which was featured on Dateline NBC and CBS Eye on America. His skilled civil advocacy led to him being named “Lawyer of the Year” in 1998 by the California Association of Black Lawyers.  From 1997 to 2000, Rodney served as general counsel of the East Side Union High School District in San Jose, California. In January 2000, after a nationwide search, Rodney Moore accepted the position as general counsel and chief legal officer of the Atlanta Public Schools. In July 2005, Rodney joined Greenberg Traurig, LLP. At the firm, Rodney represents Fortune 500 companies and public agencies in labor and employment, and general litigation. He is a member of the litigation, and media and entertainment groups.

Rodney G. Moore has served as a past president of the Santa Clara County Black Lawyers Association, and a past president of the California Association of Black Lawyers, a statewide association representing 6,000 Black lawyers and judges. Rodney held leadership positions as general counsel and vice president to the National Bar Association. Rodney was selected for inclusion in the 2007 and 2008 editions of “The Best Lawyers in America.”  Furthermore, the National Law Journal named Rodney among the 2008 “50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America.”  Currently, he is on the Board of Visitors at Santa Clara University Law School and is a member of the 100 Black Men of America (Atlanta Chapter).
