By: Pharmacy Automation Systems by QEM One of the biggest medication errors in the pharmaceutical field is not made by the pharmacy, but by the patient. That is forgetting to take medication - or taking too much medication because the patient just can't remember ("Did I, or did I not take my medication"). This medication error is the number one cause leading to senior citizens having to go into a long-term care facility. And it's the single largest reasons patient's sickness lingers longer than it should. Almost everyone who has ever gotten a prescription filled realizes at the end of the prescribed prescription period, there are pills left in the bottle (vial). Now, a small Florida Company has done something about that. They have released an automated prescription- Previously, only pharmacies (mostly known as closed door pharmacies) filling thousands of prescription daily for nursing homes, and other long term care facilities could afford equipment to fill blister cards. That's because their volume had to be large enough to support machinery, costing form hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions. But with Pharmacy Automation Systems' new equipment release, almost every pharmacy in America can afford this dual-purpose machine. Now, it is possible for a small local pharmacy to reduce their labor costs in prescription dispensing, give their staff more time for their customers, and give their customers the safety of getting their prescriptions faster, and in blister cards (also known as punch cards, pill cards, and bubble cards). Mike Bailey, the General Manager of Pharmacy Automation Systems says that patient safety is their number one goal. He says that they believe that they can make a difference in pharmacy safety, and that this new system will not only take much of the human error factor out of prescriptions dispensing, but also help to keep patients taking their medication when they're supposed to. Another benefit for seniors is that they can see at a glance if they got all of their pills - rather than having to count them when they get home. Having dealt with seniors for a while, Mr. Bailey says that many seniors are on extremely fixed incomes, and with rising costs, they not only count their change, but their pills (they have to). Mr. Bailey says that there are other automated prescription- The Largo Companies website is the same as their name, or pillcount. Mr. Bailey says that Pharmacy Automation Systems will be producing this new system as quickly as possible to keep up with demand. So for now, any pharmacy in America can offer their customers this option. # # # Pharmacy Automation Systems builds prescription- End
