Aug. 27, 2008 - PRLog -- Frederica, DE -  ILC Dover, the company that manufactures spacesuits for NASA, announced today that they received NIOSH approval on their Quick-Loc ™ waist belt for the Sentinel XL™ HP PAPR.  This addition to the Sentinel line allows healthcare workers to instantly connect their Sentinel HP to the new waist belt.  The enhanced belt features a low friction thermoplastic elastomer that allows the user to smoothly and easily adjust the belt size.  In addition, the smooth belt surface can be can be readily wiped clean with a number of standard disinfectants.

This exciting new device builds on proven ILC Dover technology in creating military and civilian gas masks, such as the M40 for the military and the SCape® CBRN30 NIOSH approved Air-Purifying Escape Mask.  The latter has been chosen as the Escape Mask of choice by a number of key U.S. Government agencies.

The Sentinel XL™ is a platform product that allows agencies a wide degree of flexibility to protect against a range of threats.  The CBRN version is the only Cap 2 approved loose fitting PAPR.  Cap 2 refers to the increased protection afforded by the CBRN filter cartridges.  The Sentinel HP offers HEPA protection and is ideal for organizations looking to protect their workers from infectious diseases and pandemic flu type of threats.

“To create what’s next we’re continually listening to our customers,” said Doug Durney, ILC Dover’s Director of Marketing and New Business Development.  The Quick-Loc™ belt simplifies the use and adjustment of the Sentinel HP and facilitates disinfection – both features that allow Healthcare professionals to focus on patients and not on their protection.
