Does your driving STINK

How to avoid costly damage to catalyctic converters on modern vehicles and control emisions to the atmosphere

Aug. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- In this modern enviromentally friendly world the improvemnets in exhaust output are greatly helping in the fight against pollution, global warming and acid rain. When an engine burns fuel one of the by products is sulphur. Sulphur is present in all types of fuel.

Sulphur gives no warning of the damage it causes. Until the piston rings stick or the rings and cylinder lines wear to the point of excessive blow by or oil comsumption an engine will run normally. There is little change in engine power or startability. Acid products caused by high sulphur fuel build up in the lubricating oil and quietly destroy the engine. When fuel is burnt in the engine sulphur dioxide  and momoxide are formed and combine with the moisture in the atmosphere to form sulphuric acid which passes through to the exhaust system. This problem is also present of course in marine engines.

The catalytic converter is an addition to the exhaust system on petrol and some diesel motor vechiles that puts a specially perpared precious metal, normally Platinum, in the path of the existing exhaust gases. The reaction between the two converts the harmful carbon monoxide in the exhaust into a harmless gas. This system works well and the life expectancy of the catalytic converters varies on the use of course but is said to be between 1 and 5 years.

The wonder cure for pollucion, the catalytic converter, is then bombarded by the Sulphur oxides. It is these that cause the smell of  “rotten eggs” from the exhaust of cars with catalytic converters. Now when you are following a nice shiny new enviromentally friendly car on a damp morning or evening you will know exactly what you can smell. Not only is the car in front making an awful smell, but he is shortening the life of his expensive catalytic converter considerably and possibly doing damage to his engine.

If you want to prevent against creating a stink when you drive you now can with a product only recently available in Spain, FUEL SET.

FUEL SET stops the formation of sulphuric acid which cuases damage to the engine and the expensive catalytic converter in the exhaust system.

By adding small amounts of FUEL SET to your fuel every time that you fill up (4000:1) it will stop the formation of sulphuric acid from the sulphur oxides, prolonging the life of the catalytic converter and your engine.
