Birches Group Announces Ghana Compensation Survey Results
Birches Group has announced the availability of their annual compensation survey results in Ghana. The survey results show an average increase of 20% over last year's data. Professional positions increased 27.3%, while support staff increased 14.4%.
The survey results show an average increase in total compensation of about 20% when compared to 2007. Support staff positions increased 14.4%, while professional jobs had increases averaging 27.3%. More experienced professionals and managers enjoyed the highest level of increases.
Organizations operating in Ghana will be interested in the typical market practice to supplement base salary with other forms of compensation (some of these benefits are offered to selected employees or positions only). The most common elements of compensation found in the Ghana market, in addition to base salary, include fixed bonus (75% of employers); food & beverages (70%); recreation (55%); incentive pay (45%); housing allowance (45%); and commuter benefits or transport allowance (45%). Company cars for executives are offered by 35% of employers. In addition, 25% of employers offered subsidized loans for housing, cars or personal reasons.
