Rockford Company Is Heating Up In Green Sales

Fear of high heating bills prompts huge demand for alternative heating sources

July 29, 2008 - PRLog -- Rockford, IL-Consumers worried about high natural gas and home heating oil prices are turning to a local wood burning stove and insert supplier at rates not seen at this time of year.
The consumer is buying smarter and going green when it comes to their home.  For some time now, the cost to heat a home has nearly doubled with no immediate sign of relief.  Consumers are showing an increased awareness and desire of how economically they can prepare for the up and coming winter season.
“We haven’t seen this kind of a demand for wood, pellet, and electric fireplaces since the winter of 2005,” Melissa Francis explains, “We are filling orders as fast as we possibly can.”   Dealers are seeing stoves and inserts being bought up as soon as deliveries arrive.  In some cases, the manufacturers are already behind on production.  Even with heat reaching all time highs this summer, consumers are demanding a jump start on the fireplace season.   Skyrocketing fuel prices and an unpredictable economy aren’t stopping the homeowner from taking control of how efficiently they are heating their homes.
Currently, numerous homes in the Rockford area have very inefficient fireplaces by allowing the homeowner’s paid heat to go up and out the chimney.  This can be greatly reduced by installing an EPA certified wood or pellet stove or insert with low emissions and high efficiency ratings.   A cleaner burning hearth appliance can supplement or replace a home’s current heating system.  With new technology, alternative heating sources can reduce heating costs and be better for the environment than non-EPA certified hearth products.
"The consumer isn’t taking any chances this year," said Melissa Francis, VP of Sales of Rockford, IL.-based Midwest Distribution Network, Inc., “This time three years ago, we had over 150 stoves and inserts in stock. Now, I can’t keep enough on hand.  What is shocking is how early our season has started."   Homeowners usually tend to start thinking of upgrading or adding a fireplace to their home when the summer heat has died down and the leaves are starting to turn.  “Our manufacturers are already reporting an increase in delivery times, which is very rare for this time of year.  The consumer looking to put off purchasing these types of products until the fall will run into extremely long wait times for product delivery.”
The Winnebago County company sells high efficiency EPA-certified wood, and pellet hearth products and projects to exceed all previous years in sales by more that 73% with the demand at hand.   "Our company is selling stoves and inserts like crazy," she said. "I’m just hoping the manufacturers can supply to meet the consumer’s demand."
