Prep skin for summer and get gorgeous results all season long with simple and affordable tips using Epsom Salt.

Charlotte, N.C. (July 22, 2008) As temperatures rise and bikini season approaches, now is the time to get skin ready for summer. But before shopping for the perfect swimsuit or booking the ideal beach vacation, try these simple and affordable at-home recipes for getting your skin glowing and radiant.

Exfoliate to Get Rid of Dry, Dull Skin
Try this body scrub to remove the surface layer of dead skin cells.  Mix two cups of Epsom Salt with 1/4 cup of petroleum jelly and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Use the mixture to gently scrub away dry patches. This treatment helps self-tanners go on more smoothly, making them less likely to streak and will prevent your glow from fading prematurely. Exfoliate weekly to keep skin silky smooth. It’s also a good way to loosen up any ingrown hairs before shaving or after a bikini wax to keep pores open to prevent bumps.

Put Your Best Face Forward
Everyone loves a clean, natural look for summer. And, it’s easy to achieve glowing results with this easy at-home facial. For a fresh, dewy complexion, mix 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom Salt into cleansing cream. Gently massage on skin in circular motions to remove any dry skin cells and to help unclog pores. It works great to remove blackheads around the nose. Rinse with cool water and pat dry. Apply your favorite moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher.

Soft and Smooth Sandalicious Feet
We all notice how smooth and soft our feet feel after a day at the beach.  That’s because of the combination of the exfoliating powers of sand and salt water.  To get this feeling at home without walking on hot sand, simply soak your soles in a foot bath of Epsom Salt. Add one cup of Epsom Salt to a tub of warm water. Soak for ten minutes. Then, mix two cups of Epsom Salt with 1/4 cup of petroleum jelly and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Use the mixture to gently scrub the entire foot concentrating on the heels and ankles to remove any dry, rough spots.

Post-Sunburn Relief
Forgot to apply your sunblock? Here’s a great remedy to relieve the pain. Since Epsom Salt is absorbed through the skin, soaking for a few minutes can really soothe the aches away. Take one cup of Epsom Salt and pour boiling water into it so it dissolves, then pour into warm bath water. Sit back, relax and soak for 15-20 minutes. Follow with aloe vera gel.

Epsom Salt is extremely affordable and easy to find at most grocery, hardware or drug stores. For more information on Epsom Salt and its many uses go to www.epsomsaltcouncil.org.
