July 18, 2008 - PRLog -- The Activity Director Today website announces the addition of Susan Berg as a contributor. She will be sharing activity ideas that work with folks in long term care facilities, with all who are interested.

Berg has been an educator and healthcare professional for over twenty years. She is a veteran Activity Director and has worked at Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers, Massachusetts, for many years. While there, she has gained much dementia care and activity experience and knowledge. She has had special training in dementia care and dementia activities through the Alzheimer's Association and other educational forums. Berg is the author of Adorable Photographs of Our Baby-Meaningful, Mind-Stimulating Activities and More for the Memory Challenged, Their Loved Ones, and Involved Professionals, a book for those with dementia and an excellent resource for caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Her first contribution to the website is an activity called Name That Tune with a Twist.

Berg has also been active in the dementia care community. Her goal is to help those in need and make their lives more meaningful despite their disabilities. Berg focuses on what a person can do rather than on what they can not do.

Because Berg is so passionate about helping the frail elderly, she has started several blogs where she has chronicled new advances in dementia prevention, dementia care, and dementia research. You can visit the blog, Dementia Views You Can Use, http://dementiaviews.blogspot.com or Dementia Tips http://dementiatips.blogspot.com

She also wants to assist those caring for our treasured seniors whether they are loved ones, caregivers or healthcare professionals. Berg is particularly interested in sharing her ideas with those who are interested in engaging elders in meaningful activities. You can see her activities blog, Activities Director http://activitiesdirector.blogspot.com

Berg decided to become a contributor to Activity Director Today because it is a highly informative website. It is geared to activity professionals and others interested in keeping those who reside in long term care facilities, engaged in meaningful activities. However much of the information and many of the activities discussed can be modified and adapted for home caregiver use.

Most of the information shared is free.

There are several other extremely knowledgeable contributors to this website. They discuss information that is timely and useful.

There is also a message board group, Activity Director Community, which any interested activity professional can join. You can post a question. Most often you get an answer from someone in the group in a timely manner.

There is also a newsletter mailing list you can join. The newsletter is a fairly new element. It features one of the monthly articles featured in the E-Magazine.

You can subscribe to Activity Director Today E-Magazine by visiting the website.

Robert Lucas is the founder of Activity Director Today. He works extremely hard to keep the website highly informative.  Lucas was a Health Facility Administrator for 25 years. He is married to an Activity Professional (Linda Lucas, AD).

The amazing thing about the website and the e-magazine is that other activity professionals from across the United States (i.e. Consultants, magazine publishers and professional organizations) accepted Bob & Linda’s offer for them to sponsor and contribute monthly articles to the Activity Director Today website and to the E-Magazine. Visitors can find many helps and references.

So come and see what it is all about. Read Susan Berg’s activity for August as well as the plethora of other information that is available.
