South Atlantic Lifesaving Association (SALA) Regional Lifeguard Competition Comes to Pleasure Island

The South Atlantic Lifesaving Association (SALA) will hold its Regional Lifeguard Competition in Carolina Beach, NC on July 16th and 17th 2008.

July 15, 2008 - PRLog -- Carolina Beach, NC – Lifeguards from Virginia Beach all the way to Daytona Beach will converge on Pleasure Island on July 16th and 17th, 2008 to compete in the South Atlantic Lifesaving Association’s Regional Lifeguard Competition.

The competition will take place on the beach just north of the Golden Sands Motel and will include such events as Run-Swim-Run, relays, Beach Flags, Paddle Board, Land Line and a Beach run.  This is a great opportunity for the lifeguards to demonstrate their abilities in the water while competing against other professional lifeguards.

For the first time in the history of New Hanover County, residents and visitors can be spectators of this exciting and rewarding event our area lifeguards participate in every year.  Hours for the competition are Wednesday, July 16th 2008, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. and on Thursday, July 17th 2008, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
