July 15, 2008 - PRLog -- A new washing machine from Sharp offers new filter technology that reduces the amount of minerals in the water, according to HardwareZone.

The website reports that the manufacturer has launched two new Super Aqua Magic twin-tub washers which it claims are capable of filtering out harmful minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

It is noted that these elements, as well as compounds such as bicarbonates and sulphates, can cause water to be hard and that not only does this limit the detergent's ability to clean but can also damage clothes.

"Sharp's new Super Aqua Magic washing machine is the first in the market to have a built-in zeolite filter that reduces hard water minerals," the site reports, adding that tests have confirmed the unit offers "noticeably better" results.

The eight-kilogramme capacity ES-807TFS model is accompanied by the seven-kilogramme ES-707TFS and it is also noted that both have a purifying filter to deal with other water impurities such as rust.

Health secretary Alan Johnson recently suggested that in order to improve the dental health of children, fluoride should be introduced on a wider basis to the UK's supply of drinking water.
