Massachusetts Realtor Gives Homeowners a Segway Personal Transporter

A Massachusetts Realtor has initiated a unique offering to help stimulate business and lower homesellers' carbon footprint. He's giving away free Segways, valued at more than $5,000.

BEVERLY, Mass. (July 11, 2008) – Jay Burnham, a sales associate in the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Beverly, and MaryBeth Alosa of Segway of Northern New England, joined dozens of local citizens, as they presented David and Sheila Eddison with a brand new Segway Personal Transporter as part of his Great Segway Giveaway promotion.

Burnham launched the Great Segway Giveaway program to benefit qualifying home sellers who list their properties with him. Each home seller, who meets certain requirements, will receive a brand new Segway, purchased by Burnham, at the home closing. The Eddisons are the first to receive a Segway as part of this special promotion.

During the gathering, Burnham also provided demonstrations and test driving opportunities to the crowd on his own personal Segway.

Faced with increasing fuel prices, Burnham felt that his home sellers needed some relief and an alternative to driving.  A dedicated and enthusiastic owner of a Segway himself, Burnham wanted to provide an eco-friendly, and responsible program that would benefit the environment and his home sellers, while marketing himself in a unique way.

“The Segway Personal Transporter is a clean, green, eco-friendly machine that gets the energy equivalency of 450 miles to the gallon and therefore saves me hundreds of dollars a year in fuel costs by using it to commute to work and to shopping,” said Burnham.  “I launched this program to personally tout the benefits of using a Segway, and to also help my customers obtain the same benefits that I have received since owning one.  They are also easy and fun to ride.”

Presently, Burnham has several home sellers who are qualified and eager to achieve Segway ownership through this distinctive program.
