Follow on Google News | International volunteer work camp in Africa(Maasai land)Touch Africa Network is currently recruiting international volunteers for its September work camp to be held in Maasai land in The Great Rift Valley province in Kenya.
1)Start a big vegetable garden to supplement the school feeding program. 2)Sensitize maasai women against female genital mutilation(FGM) 3)Plant trees around the school(this is a TAN 'must do' activity in all camps). 4)Teach and help the teachers grade the students school work. 5)Work in the school kitchen( 6)Volunteer in nearby community health center. 7)Join the community in a clean up campaign. On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport (JKIA) you will be met by TAN staff. Their will be an orientation on the 8TH September 2008 at TAN offices in Nairobi. Therefore volunteers are advised to make plans to arrive before this date. It is a MUST to participate in the work camp orientation on the 8th in Nairobi. Participants will leave for the work camp on the 9th September 2008 early in the morning. its about 7 hours journey to illasit primary school. Participation Fee; you will be required to pay a participation fee of 200 Euros (18000 Kenya shillings) at our offices. this fee cover all airport transfers(arrival and departure), transport to and from work camp project, food and accommodation for period of project and accommodation in Nairobi for two days before and after work camp. Volunteer will be issued with a certificate after the work camp. volunteers are advice to carry sleeping bags, sleeping mats, a torch, a mosquito net/repellents, entertainment and cultural effects from their country. One must be 18 years old or older to participate in the work camp. Anyone under this age must have written consent from parent of guardian. volunteers travelling with their children are advised to inform us before hand so that arrangements can be made to facilitate them.(for advice on planning your trip contact TAN support staff in your country).
