July 10, 2008 - PRLog -- (LAHASKA, Pa.) Peddler’s Village has announced today that The Spotted Hog Restaurant has closed after 20 years of successful operation. The restaurant will reopen as Sweet Lorraine’s Café & Bar in the fall of 2008.

Opened in 1989 by the late Earl Jamison, founder of Peddler’s Village, the “Hog” has long served as a favorite spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner for both locals and visitors. Jamison built the restaurant as part of the restoration and expansion of the historic Buttonwood Inn, a 19th century tavern he acquired in 1986 to add lodging to Peddler’s Village.  Renamed the Golden Plough Inn, Jamison expanded the lodging facility and added The Spotted Hog, a casual family restaurant which he named after one of his most cherished family pets.

“We are very excited to introduce a new restaurant concept to our current dining choices at Peddler’s Village. As part of our promise to provide an extraordinary dining experience for our guests, we are welcoming Sweet Lorraine’s to the Peddler’s Village family. As the Buttonwood Inn evolved into The Spotted Hog or Jenny’s into Earl’s Prime, this change is also appropriate to reflect the times and serve the needs of our guests,” said Christopher Leskauskas, Peddler’s Village CEO.

Sweet Lorraine’s Café & Bar is a casual, fun and sophisticated eatery offering award-winning chef Lorraine Platman’s World Beat Cuisine in Detroit, Michigan since 1982.  Sweet Lorraine’s was rated one of Michigan's Top Ten Favorite Restaurants in the Zagat Guide for Michigan. Sweet Lorraine's offers a selection of daily specials, including homemade soups, pastas, seafood and vegetarian entrees - inspired by exciting ethnic cuisines. Sweet Lorraine’s at Peddler’s Village will be offering breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

The Alderfer Auction Company will be holding a public auction of The Spotted Hog furnishings and decorative accessories on July 10 at their facility at 501 Fairgrounds Road in Hatfield, PA.

Peddler’s Village is located at Routes 202 and Street Road in Lahaska.  Follow the winding brick pathways of the Village throughout the 42 acres of lush landscaping and charming 18th century-style architecture for a unique shopping and dining experience. Peddler’s Village has something for everyone from 70 quality specialty shops and six restaurants to the 70-room Golden Plough Inn and Giggleberry Fair family entertainment center.
