July 7, 2008 - PRLog -- "We bet the Jockey, Not the Horse." A master class podcast with the Pitch Coach, David S. Rose
In a rare, thirty minute interview on Total Picture Radio, David told the host of TPR, Peter Clayton, "if you don't understand what's happening in this new world and figure out ways to leverage all of these wonderful new things that are happening, there's going to be real problems ahead... This is a distributed world, my bet is on the little person in the garage."

David S. Rose is an entrepreneurial executive and investor with extensive experience in high technology and communications, angel investments, finance and government. During the course of his career, Mr. Rose has supervised the creation of an intellectual property portfolio of issued patents appraised at over $100 million and negotiated both domestic and international corporate acquisitions. Mr. Rose is Chairman of the Board of the New York Angels, the leading angel investment consortium in the New York region. Through his investment fund, Rose Tech Ventures, he provides capital and management expertise to promising early stage companies. On behalf of his own technology firms he has personally raised tens of millions of dollars in venture, strategic and institutional capital.

Here's a breakdown of the topics discussed in the interview:

I’d like to begin by discussing business trends - first, here in the US - and internationally. So if you wouldn’t mind, David, take out your crystal ball.

Tell us about deal flow. Are deals being made?

What kind of ventures have the best chance of getting funded? Are we talking about biotech, renewable energy, Web 2.0? Where’s the action?

What’s your prognosis for the balance of 2008, regarding the U.S. economy.

What’s the buzz on the street within the early stage investment community?

What’s the biggest mistake most entrepreneurs make when they’re pitching someone like you for early-stage financing?

Has anyone really wowed you lately with a pitch to Rose Tech Ventures?

A reoccurring theme of yours is passion. Does it really play a big role in who you decide to fund?

If Jerry Yang called you up, looking for some advice, what would you tell him?

You have an MBA from Columbia. If you were graduating today, what would you do and where would you go?
