Follow on Google News | Recovery Comes Full Circle Through an Art Exhibition by Critically Acclaimed Artist Jennie RosenbaumPurity is a celebration of life and experience, a journey of recovery and discovery held at Box Hill Community Arts Center Gallery.
By: Jennierosenbaum.com In July 2004 Jennie and her husband were involved in a t-bone car accident at the corner of Canterbury Rd and Station St in Box Hill (http://www.bhcac.com.au) This connection is particularly obvious when viewing these artworks. Minimal nudes in white with brightly colored lines, these paintings focus on purity of line and form, telling a story in a few short strokes. the lines are delicately formed, reminiscent of calligraphy and are repeated several times over until the perfect economy of form and function is achieved. in a fickle, fast-drying medium, this presents an additional challenge, but this technique represents so much about Jennie, carving what you want from what you have and working diligently until the end result is achieved. The end result in Jennie's case is a successful art career. "I could have given up when it all came crashing down, I could have given into the pain and resigned myself to depression, but instead I chose to look on this as an opportunity to pursue my love of art and try to forge a successful career from the ashes of my former life." With the help of the Internet, Jennie has been doing just that. Even though she has to lie down at her computer she has built contacts with galleries and collectors worldwide and has been exhibiting and selling pieces locally and internationally for the past three years gaining momentum, awards and critical acclaim. Jennie is also becoming well known as an outspoken blogger writing about nude art, censorship and controversy at http://www.jenniespalette.com. It seems fitting that Jennie's first solo exhibition premiers only 150 meters from the site of the car accident that started it all. It's the culmination of Jennie's motivation and drive, coming full circle. The art works have a sense of hope and optimism that mirrors Jennie's own. The exhibition is entitled Purity and is showing at Box Hill Community Arts Center Gallery from the 3rd of August until the 8th of August. The opening is a laid back afternoon tea on Sunday the 3rd from 2-4pm. more details are available on Jennie's website at http://www.jennierosenbaum.com # # # Jennie Rosenbaum is an artist specializing in contemporary nude pieces.
