-- Kaplan University’s Cedar Falls campus held a graduation ceremony Saturday for 117 students. The ceremony took place at 1 p.m. at Prairie Lakes, 1907 Viking Road, Cedar Falls.
Students were recognized for earning bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees or diplomas in one of 17 programs in the business, allied health, practical nursing, information technology, legal studies, criminal justice and interdisciplinary fields. Upon graduation, students may be eligible for entry-level positions in their field of study. According to the State of Iowa Occupational Projections, a report by the Iowa Workforce Development, Policy and Information Division, medical assistant positions are expected to increase by 31 percent, licensed practical nursing positions by 23.8 percent and paralegal positions by 29.1 percent from 2004 to 2014.
“The strength and character of our students has never been tested more than this past year,” said Connie Reidy, president of Kaplan University’s Cedar Falls campus. “Our June 2008 graduates endured the worst winter in decades, followed by tornado and storm damage, and then extensive flooding. Through it all, they persevered and stayed committed to their education. We are incredibly proud of them and their accomplishments.”
Kaplan University’s Cedar Falls campus is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
