The World of Haircuts

A global photo reportage now available for magazines and other print publications. Depicts the trade of barbers, hairdressers and hair stylists in 25 different countries.

June 20, 2008 - PRLog -- Story abstract: "No matter who you are and where you live, you need that haircut every now and then. For some of us it’s just a matter of getting rid of excessive hair growth, while for others it is the ultimate means of personal style and self-expression. Hairdressers have to live up to a wide range of different expectations and their efforts always have to be concentrated, creative and cheerful. From the most peaceful of countries to the most brutal dictatorships, people need their haircut. Where there are people, there are hairdressers."

Covering this simple theme, the International Photojournalists Network (IPN) sent out 25 of it’s members to have a closer look at some of all the worlds barber shops and hair stylists. The result is this global photo reportage that depicts the wide variety of circumstances under which the world’s hairdressers work.
