June 12, 2008 - PRLog -- Lately, New York Film AcademyAlumni have been popping up at film festivals all over the globe.  Today we are proud to announce that former New York Film Academy student Paulo Costas will be participating in the fifth annual Salento International Film Festival (SIFF).

The Italian costal town of Tricase has been hosting the film festival since 2004 with the support of its neighbors Puglia Region and the Province of Lecce. SIFF promotes Italian as well as international films to the public.  The winners’ films will be screened later this year in Rome.

The event consists of nine days of film festival 'premieres' including retrospective screenings, feature films, short feature films, and documentaries. During these nine days, an international jury of film industry professionals will be evaluating the competing works.

Costas will be competing in the category, “The World in Short.”  Filmmakers in this category will fight for the title of best international short-film.  Costas has chosen to enter his film, “Direct Mail” which he created while attending the New York Film Academy.

About the New York Film Academy, New York City, Universal Studios – Hollywood, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Some of Hollywood’s greatest filmmakers and film stars have chosen to send their sons and daughters to the Film School & Acting School of the New York Film Academy, including Steven Spielberg, Susan Sarandon, and Kevin Kline to name a few. Yet, some of the best projects to come out of the Film School & Acting School at the New York Film Academy are from students with no connections to the film industry. An extraordinarily eclectic group of students attend our film school locations all over the world. Students develop an invaluable network of classmates at our school that often provide opportunities for future work in the film industry.
