Doremus Research Finds Many Senior Execs Don't Like to Manage Their Own Money

Doremus, the global agency that specializes in understanding the business of business, interviewed 464 executives at the Senior Vice President level and above about their personal investment strategies.

June 10, 2008 - PRLog -- Doremus, the global agency that specializes in understanding the business of business, recently interviewed 464 executives at the Senior Vice President level and above about their personal investment strategies.    

Two-thirds considered themselves to be experts on money and investing.  But only half said they “actually enjoy” managing their own investments.

Those who said they enjoy investing were also more likely to say they “stick to a budget,” could tell you their net worth “down to the penny,” and identified themselves as “risk takers.”

Hope Picker, Doremus Director of Research said, “Even among senior executives, there are many who lack the confidence or don’t like to make decisions about investing their own money. So it’s not surprising that a large portion of the working population are having anxiety about their own long-term financial planning.”  

This research suggests that financial services firms have an opportunity to reach out to the less confident investor. Messaging that emphasizes the longevity of a firm’s funds, the background of the funds’ managers, and the firm’s successful track record creating wealth for its clients will resonate with the cautious investor.
