May 28, 2008 - PRLog -- Later this month ULI Atlanta will host Infrastructure 2008: A Competitive Advantage. The conference will feature new research conducted by the Urban Land Institute and Ernst & Young that takes a closer look at the infrastructure needs for 23 U.S. metro areas including Atlanta. Also included in the research is a comparison of the overall U.S. infrastructure investment to that of Europe, China, India and Japan. The conference will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center on Friday, May 30 at 7:30am.

The conference will feature a keynote address given by Tom Murphy, Senior Resident Fellow, Urban Land Institute. Following the keynote address will be a moderated panel discussion with a Q&A format.

Infrastructure 2008 is the second of the Urban Land Institute’s annual reports on international infrastructure. Last year’s report focused on broad issues facing countries and regions globally while this year’s update focuses on the importance of infrastructure to a city or a country’s economic competitiveness.

The report also examines issues related to the funding of infrastructure. Funding will become increasingly important as the United States heads towards the next iteration of the Highway Trust Fund.
