Complex Church Lighting System Designed

Church lighting system required a sophisticated design that would incorporate house lights, ambiant light, theatrical lights and television lighting into multiple control points that would allow for future expansion into moving heads.

May 23, 2008 - PRLog -- Bemus Point United Methodist Church, located near Jamestown, NY, required a professional lighting system designed that would incorporate all of their needs.  The house lights, ambiant light from skylights, theatrical lighting fixtures, and television lighting fixtures all needed to be controlled from multiple points in the sanctuary.  Also, consideration had to be given as to how to mix or control various Kelvin color temperatures so that television productions look normal.  Turner Specialty Contractors, LLC, http://www.AUDIOnLIGHTSnSTAGECURTAINS.com designed the system to incorporate all of these demands plus the need to add future moving heads into the facility.  TSC worked hand-in-hand with the church's architect to bring all of these needs in under budget and on-time.

Including all interactions between the church, AODK Architects of Cleveland, the electrical engineer, CAD operators, project electrician, and others, the design required approximately one hundred man hours in order to accomplish the goals of the project.

The lighting control consisted of ETC dimmers paired to an ETC ION control Board.  A 96 channel ETC Sensor dimmer rack was utilized for both the house lighting and teh theatrical/TV lighting systems. Several ETC wallplates were added to the system to allow for easy access of janitorial staff to raise and lower the room light levels.

Drama lighting utilized ETC Source Four 14 degree and ETC Source Four Zoom JR ellipsiodals, while the wash lights for TV production utilized ETC Source Four Parnels.  Two different cyc lights were utilized on the rear wall and real wall columns: ETC Source Four three cell multipars and traditional Altman three cell Skycycs.  All lights are mounted to Connector strips, installed on the catwalks, using 18" pigtails with stage pin plugs.  Two floor pockets will be installed into the stage floor with standard edison outlets for "practicals".

The church will break ground on the new sanctuary in the next few weeks.
