(Montreal, Canada), the world’s leading vendor of performance H.264 network video codecs, today announces direct compatibility between the OSCAR encoder appliance and the award-winning Wowza Media Server™ Pro platform, providing fast, economical, and efficient live Flash® H.264 content delivery. The OSCAR is an extremely compact stand alone video appliance that uses H.264 video compression to efficiently encode full frame rate standard definition video signals for delivery over IP networks. The OSCAR delivers full video resolution encoding for $1995.

Unlike most Flash encoding solutions that are based on capture cards within PCs, OSCAR is a simple, low cost, and compact appliance that encodes and transmits the video to the streaming server over IP.  “Encoding with appliances is not only a more robust and reliable method, but the appliances can be easily distributed to remote sites where live events occur,” states Peter Maag, HaiVision Vice President. “Commissioning a simple compact encoding appliance is far less complicated and more cost effective then setting up a PC for encoding.”
