WCPE Honors Fallen American Servicemen and Servicewomen

WCPE will remember and honor fallen servicemen and servicewoman during Memorial Day weekend May 24 through May 26. In addition, the station will participate in the National Moment of Remembrance May 26 at 3 p.m. (ET).

May 14, 2008 - PRLog -- Wake Forest, N.C.— Dick Storck, program director for WCPE, TheClassicalStation.Org, invites listeners across the country to remember those who have given their lives for America. Through music, WCPE will remember and memorialize all the fallen servicemen and servicewomen of the U.S. Armed Forces during Memorial Day weekend, May 24 (2008145) through May 26, 2008 (2008147).

WCPE will be participating in the National Moment of Remembrance, May 26 (2008147) at 1900 hrs (GMT), 3 p.m. (ET). At that time, WCPE will momentarily silence its broadcast in remembrance, reflection and honor of the fallen servicemen and servicewomen. The broadcast will resume with the playing of “Taps.”

“To the friends, families and all who remember and mourn our fallen servicemen and servicewomen, we at WCPE stand in proud silence with you, honoring these committed, courageous patriots and all that they gave their lives for,” says Deborah S. Proctor, general manager of WCPE, TheClassicalStation.Org.

Throughout the weekend, American composers, artists and themes will be featured, including works by Marine veteran John Phillip Sousa and Air Force veteran John Williams. Below is a list of top-of-the-hour performances that will be played on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008 (2008147):
