May 13, 2008 - PRLog -- The International Sommelier Guild (ISG) is pleased to announce that it will be launching the next set of Wine Fundamentals Certificate Level courses at The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes International Minnesota.

The ISG is a licensed vocational school, which currently provides Sommelier training in more than 20 US States and 6 Canadian Provinces in North America alone and will deliver the wine and spirit education program at The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes International Minnesota starting on June 3, 2008 running from 4:00PM to 11:00PM.

The Wine Fundamentals Certificate Level 1 and Level 2 prerequisite courses are designed to prepare students for the Sommelier Diploma Program, which begins September 24, 2008.  These two certificate courses are the result of the collaborative efforts of an international pool of wine educators. From this crop of bright wine enthusiasts, there are only 24 people accepted into the Sommelier Diploma Program per class per year, and it runs 23 weeks culminating in an intense thirteen-hour, five-part exam.

Upon completion of this program students will not only be able to discern the grapes used to produce wines, but also the climate and soil content of the vineyards where the grapes were grown. If that is not motivation enough, the ISG teaches the business of wine including how to affect your establishment’s bottom line; how to purchase for profit; as well as how to leverage wine as a liquid asset.  Not only will graduates of the program be adept in wine management, menu design, cellaring and service techniques, but also have a marketable accreditation with global reach.
