DirectBuy of Brooklyn and Queens members buy more and save more in 2008
DirectBuy of Brooklyn and Queens, the leading members-only showroom and home design center that offers merchandise at manufacturer-direct prices, reported an increase in member purchases in the first quarter of 2008.
“Believe it or not, the increase in member purchases, both in dollar volume and quantity, is a result of the recession,” said Marti Brandt, co-owner of DirectBuy of Brooklyn and Queens. “During tough economic times, consumers need to make every dollar count, particularly when you’re doing a home renovation project. DirectBuy gives the consumer a way to save considerable dollars.”
This trend is not just a one-quarter occurrence. Member purchases at the DirectBuy of Brooklyn and Queens have been consistently on the rise for the past year. From April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008, members made 6,000 purchases totaling more than 9 million dollars—up from April 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007’s figures of 5,672 purchase orders totaling $8.4 million.
DirectBuy franchises offer members the opportunity to enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products and accessories by buying wholesale, directly from the manufacturer. In addition, DirectBuy boasts a team of designers to help members with their purchases and gives them access to a roster of hand-selected contractors to expedite those projects.
“In this economy, the fact remains that people are staying in their current homes longer rather than moving and upgrading to a newer home. So, they’re putting more of their resources into their existing home. No better evidence of that exists than our kitchen sales. From November 2007 to March 2008, kitchen sales were up more than 55 percent over the same time frame one year ago, ” said Brandt. “A DirectBuy membership helps you save tons of money on a new kitchen by purchasing items directly from an unbelievable amount of brand-name manufacturers and their authorized suppliers.”
In addition to introducing more people to the savings you can enjoy at DirectBuy, DirectBuy of Brooklyn and Queens has also become a fixture in the local community. It has recently paired with DirectBuy of Manhattan to launch the “Nearly Perfect Non-Profit Donation Program.” This program involves donating imperfect items that manufacturers will not exchange to non-profit organizations in the New York City area.
