www.cispa.net The California Internet Service Provider Association (CISPA) 2008 Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn – Capitol Plaza in Sacramento on May 9th and 10th. A highlight of the annual conference this year will be a hosted reception Friday evening for invited guests that include the Governor Schwarzenegger, Secretary of State, both California US Senators, all State Senators, and select committee members from regulatory agencies. The CISPA Board of Directors will host the event. This will be an opportunity for legislative members to hear first hand about issues of concern that affect thousands of their constituents in communities throughout California. CISPA works for continued fair and open Internet access for all Californians! CISPA was founded in January 2000 in response to a need to protect the rights of independent Internet service providers and their customers and maintain open access to the publicly regulated networks of the former Bell telephone companies. These network access rights were a requirement outlined in the 1996 Telecommunications Act and enforced by the FCC and state regulatory agencies. As the largest state ISP association in the U.S., with more than 100 member ISP's and technology companies, CISPA has expanded member services beyond the regulatory and legislative focus to provide services that impact an ISP’s business and help protect the rights of residential and business customers. Member services now include preferred vendor programs, seminars and conferences, online peer forums and regulatory and legislative advocacy. CISPA continues to focus on network access issues such as DSL, wireless spectrums and “naked DSL,” plus technology issues such as VoIP, spam, privacy and security.
