Margolin, Winer & Evens Expanding – 62 Year Old Firm Remains Committed to Its Long Island Roots

MWE, which was founded in 1946 in Queens and has since expanded many times to become one of the largest accounting and business advisory firms in the Northeast, has made the decision to lease additional space at its current location, 400 Garden City Plaza, Garden City, New York in order to accommodate its continued growth. 400 Garden City Plaza is owned by and managed by The Treeline Companies (“Treeline”, Garden City, NY).

MWE Managing Partner Teddy Selinger noted that, “After careful consideration of all the options, we have decided to remain at 400 Garden City Plaza. We will be occupying the entire fifth floor of the building, comprising 36,000 square feet up through the year 2019, the term of our 11-year lease.” He added that, MWE has also negotiated the right of first refusal to take additional space in the building to accommodate the firm’s future growth.

Since its inception, MWE has been on a growth track. The firm has consistently grown and evolved in terms of staff and practice areas. MWE currently employs a total of 225 serving a diverse client base from its Garden City, NY location and its New York City office at 330 Madison Avenue. MWE staff members, which include 27 partners, serve from 13 practice groups, covering financial services, manufacturing and distribution, healthcare, real estate, construction, professional service firms, family businesses, tax planning, valuation services, bankruptcy, litigation consulting, and systems consulting. With the marking of its 60th anniversary in 2006, MWE was recognized by leading federal, state and local elected officials who commended the firm both on its continued success and ongoing contributions to the region’s commerce and economic development.

As part of the MWE expansion plan, the firm will be embarking on a major space renovation. It will encompass a new interior design and layout of the entire space, new floor and wall coverings and décor items. The phased-in space redesign and remodeling project will begin over the next several months. The renovation is being performed by Treeline and will be performed in different phases with an expected completion date of all the work is August 31st, 2008.

To ensure the firm’s smooth operation during the construction period, MWE has secured 10,000 square feet of space on the building’s first floor to serve as “swing space” in which partners and associates will be relocated in accordance with when the space they are occupying is under renovation.

Mr. Selinger added, “With the signing of our new lease and the planned redesign and renovation of our expanded new space, MWE will be well-positioned for our continued growth and development.
