March 12, 2008 - PRLog -- Ane Hatch and Associates, a residential architectural and interior design firm, was featured in the article “Designing Women” in the Salt Lake Magazine in April 2008. Salt Lake Magazine’s Natalie Taylor described how the mother-daughter duo work in unison to design exceptionally detailed homes.

Ane and Abigail Hill Hatch, co-owners of Ane Hatch and Associates, work side by side as a Residential Architecture and Interior Design team. Their design philosophy is very unique to the industry. Uniting the architectural design process with interior design it’s the perfect fit.

Natalie writes, “They play off each others differences: Ane feels space and sees the bigger picture, while Abigail is more detailed oriented. They laugh as they acknowledge that Ane leans toward traditional architecture and prefers a cool color pallet while Abigail is more modern and likes her colors on the hot side.

Ane Hatch’s design philosophy began on the east coast where Ane grew up. Both of her parents built houses, either for themselves or as investments. Always near a drafting table, Ane followed in her mother’s footsteps working on layouts and dreaming up new designs. Summering in Massachusetts and wintering in Florida, she was exposed to the rich heritage of architecture all along the east coast, and to the many forms of landscape design and planned communities among newer developments.

“I do not believe a person should have to fit themselves into a floor plan,” says Ane. “We tailor the floor plan to fit the client. In the end you should have a home that completely enhances your life.”

Abby Hatch is the third generation among the Hatch designers. Abby’s interest began at a very young age. Even at eight years old, Abby was asking for a subscription of Architectural Digest for her birthday. Abby continued in her quest, always learning and loving to analyze house layouts and interiors. During high school she began to work at a local architectural firm in Park City, Utah. She went on to complete a degree in interior design at the FIDER accredited program at Utah State University. Abby interned at Barclay-Butera in Park City, and work at six different architectural design firms before joining her mother at Ane Hatch and Associates.

A successful home is really creating a total environment; it is a very personal design process. Ane and Abby believe that people come with an innate sense of home somewhere inside them. It is their intent to draw the ideal home out of the client. As the feedback from the client is processed, the dimensions of the home begin to come together and spaces now come to life as they are drawn out on paper. The final outcome is to create homes that reflect the way the client lives, their personalities, their lifestyle, their treasures, and their tastes.
