March 11, 2008 - PRLog -- Daryn Kagan shares a rare behind the scenes look at the very first video family reunion between Lt. Col. Tanya Martin, a lawyer and an American soldier with the U.S. Army in Iraq, and her family in Texas on DarynKagan.com.  LTC Martin is serving in Baghdad, which is her Mother's hometown, and this unique mother and daughter reunion can be viewed in its entirety at http://www.DarynKagan.com

After fleeing from Baghdad as a teenager in 1959, and never to return because of unrest in Iraq, Mrs. Martin’s dream was to take her children to Baghdad to visit the city  she grew up in and loved so much. The family trip never happened, and LTC Martin is the first of her siblings to see her Mother’s hometown as she serves in Baghdad as one of over 500 attorneys that have been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“I’m more than proud, I’m more than honored, and I am more than deeply appreciative,” Mrs. Martin says of her daughter serving as a U.S. soldier in Baghdad.  “I love her dearly, and hopefully we get to see her soon.”

The Martin reunion, which required several satellite feeds and the use of cutting edge technologies,  was provided by  DVIDS (Digital Video and Imagery Distribution System) which, according to their website located at http://www.dvidshub.net/, is “a state-of-the-art, 24/7 operation that provides a timely, accurate and reliable connection between the media around the world and the military serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.  Through a network of portable Ku-band satellite transmitters located in-theater and a distribution hub in Atlanta, Georgia, DVIDS makes available real-time broadcast-quality video, still images and print products as well as immediate interview opportunities with service members, commanders and subject matter experts.”
